Working in our wholly owned subsidiary company, Australian Rainforest Honey, this role is accountable to the General Manager of apiary operations and is responsible for managing and overseeing a team of apiarists, and breeding, raising and maintaining the hives allocated to their team at Australian Rainforest Honey.
Duties include but are not limited to:
- Responsible for management of workflow assigned to Apiarists in their team
- Development of seasonal plans to ensure maximum extraction and efficiency
- Breeding and raising bees for production of honey and pollinating crops
- Monitoring and maintaining the health and condition of the bees
- Managing the flowering lifecycle to ensure key honey bearing flora is appropriately utilised
- Manage the pollination needs of the horticulture corps
- Manage the risks associated with pesticide use
- Manage the nutritional inputs from targeted flowering events and maximise colony populations
Essential Criteria, Skills and Experience:
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role
- Proven skill in breeding, raising and maintaining bees
- Strong level of communication, team building and analytical understanding skills
