Position: Technical Officer / Senior Technical Officer
Salary Range: $96,154 - $119,191 per annum + superannuation

The role
Are you passionate about shaping quality development outcomes for the community?
Logan City Council is seeking a motivated Technical Officer or Senior Technical Officer to join our Development Assessment Branch.
You'll play a key role in ensuring compliance with Council's Planning Schemes, Design Standards, Policies, Local Laws, and statutory requirements, supporting the delivery of quality development across Logan City.
Key indicators for success:
Apply technical knowledge of development, civil engineering, temporary traffic management design, and landscaping to ensure compliance.
* Identify and resolve conflicts between approved plans and site conditions, recommending corrective actions.
* Assess and approve 'as constructed' drawings in line with Council policies.
* Build and maintain professional relationships with developers, engineers, project managers, and other stakeholders.
* Prepare clear, concise correspondence and reports on development engineering compliance.
* Deliver customer-centric compliance services and promote Council's values.
* Engage collaboratively with internal teams, other councils, industry bodies, and the community.
You'll possess
* Knowledge of the Planning Act 2016, Environmental Protection Act 1994, Building Act 1975, Local Government Act 2009, Traffic Management Design legislation, and relevant codes and standards.
* Experience in the building and construction industry, with strong conceptual, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
* Excellent communication skills, with the ability to produce clear and concise reports and emails.
* A collaborative approach to stakeholder engagement and customer service.
* A valid C class driver's licence and a current General Safety Induction (White Card).
* Willingness to undergo a pre-employment functional assessment and meet vaccination requirements (Hepatitis A, Hepatitis B, Tetanus
* For appointment or progression to Level 6 or 7: a degree in Civil Engineering (or equivalent), substantial industry experience, and/or Traffic Management Design (TMD) qualifications.
