The successful applicant will be responsible for overseeing farm activities, managing livestock and pasture, ensuring high standards of animal welfare, machinery upkeep, and operational efficiency. This position plays a critical role in monitoring and reporting on farm operations.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
* Assist the Farm Manager in overseeing day-to-day farm operations.
* Display excellent pasture knowledge and implement effective grazing management practices to optimize pasture quality.
* Manage and monitor the feeding, health, and general care of livestock.
* Maintain and monitor electronic dairy systems, ensuring accurate data management.
* Collaborate with the Farm Manager to monitor progress and communicate any operational concerns.
* Perform routine farm maintenance and adhere to machinery upkeep schedules.
* Work within a team environment and contribute to a positive and productive workplace.
* Participate in both on-site and off-site training to enhance skills and industry knowledge.
Skills & Experiences:
* Previous farm management or relevant farming experience is highly recommended.
* A strong understanding of pasture management, grazing techniques, and livestock care.
* Solid understanding of electronic dairy systems and data management.
* Good knowledge of farm machinery and maintenance schedules.
* Ability to work well within a team and independently when required.
* A strong passion for farming and working outdoors.
