Operating hours are 8:00am to 5:30pm.Pay: Competitive base salary + Superannuation + excellent Employee discounts!
Training: You will be set up for success with in-depth training and on the job support.What you'll be doingThe Recoveries and Settlements Officer role is a proactive and dynamic position that requires exceptional communication skills and the ability to engage with a diverse range of stakeholders.
You'll thrive in a quick-paced environment where negotiation, technical knowledge and strategic thinking come together to deliver meaningful outcomes.As a Recoveries and Settlements Officer, you will be responsible for:Claims Processing & Compliance - Ensure all claims are assessed, processed, and recorded accurately in line with RACT Insurance procedures, delegated authority levels, and relevant legislation, including liability determinations and payment approvals.Dispute Resolution & Recovery - Manage disputed claims and complaints in accordance with RACT Insurance protocols, escalate unresolved matters appropriately, and handle recoveries—including negotiations, write-offs, and legal representation in minor civil hearings.Service Delivery & Stakeholder Communication - Maintain service standards by processing claims within agreed timeframes and providing regular updates to customers and stakeholders, particularly when delays occur.Continuous Improvement & Risk Mitigation - Identify opportunities to reduce claims leakage, enhance recovery outcomes, and contribute to process improvements that support operational efficiency and customer satisfaction.This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy the challenge of influencing third parties, resolving disputes, and seeing tangible results of their efforts.
You'll work closely with members, external Insurers, legal representatives, and internal teams to uphold the high standard of claims service that RACT is known for.What We're Looking ForMinimum 2 years' experience in a customer service environment or similar.Exceptional customer service skills, with the ability to resolve conflicts effectively and professionally.Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with confidence engaging and building rapport at all levels.Demonstrated ability to research, gather evidence, and make sound, informed decisions.Sharp attention to detail with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.A high level of professionalism, confidentiality, and sound judgement in every situation.A proactive and collaborative team player who actively contributes to a supportive and high-performing culture.Non-essential, but highly desirable requirements:Knowledge of the General Insurance industry and claims handling procedures.Understanding of legal process and relevant legislation (Financial Services Reform Act, Insurance Contracts Act, Insurance Code of Practice).
