We are seeking an experienced and motivated Head of Operations to lead our training operations and ensure the safe, efficient, and compliant performance of all activities conducted under our Part 142 authorisation.
The Role
The Head of Operations is a nominated key personnel role under CASA requirements and reports directly to the CEO / Accountable Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for operational control, regulatory compliance, and leadership of all training and operational functions within the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee daily operational control of Major Blue Air’s Part 142 training activities in accordance with our CASA-approved exposition.
Ensure all training programs, flight training activities, and competency assessments comply with CASR Part 142, the MOS, and broader civil aviation legislation.
Mentor and support instructors, assessors, and operations staff to ensure quality, standardisation, and regulatory compliance.
Support and promote the organisation’s Safety Management System (SMS), including hazard identification, risk management, and safety reporting.
Conduct and support Internal Management Reviews, quality audits, and compliance monitoring activities.
Maintain effective engagement with CASA and act as a primary operational liaison for regulatory matters.
Oversee the development, review, and ongoing upkeep of operations manuals, training syllabi, and SOPs.
Drive continuous improvement across training, safety, and operational efficiency.
Qualifications & Experience
Significant aviation operational experience within CASA-regulated organisations.
Thorough understanding of CASR Part 135, Part 141, Part 142.
Demonstrated leadership experience in flight training, operational oversight, or flight standards roles.
Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, particularly with CASA.
Proven organisational, analytical, and decision-making ability.
CPL or ATPL, with instructor/examiner qualifications under CASR Part 61.
Experience in senior roles within a CASA Part 141 or Part 142 organisation.
Familiarity with FSTDs, simulator operations, or advanced synthetic training devices.
Background in SMS, quality assurance, or compliance management.
