Your Role

Mallee District Aboriginal Services (MDAS) is one of Victoria's largest Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisations.

We have an opportunity for a dedicated Aboriginal Hub Practitioner to commence as an essential member of the Hub Team.

Hubs bring together different workforces and practices to create an integrated Hub team, and a consolidated intake point in each Hub area to create a new way of support for:

* Women, children, young people and families experiencing family violence.
* Perpetrators of family violence.
* Families in need of support with the care, development and well‑being of children.

In this position as the Aboriginal Hub Practitioner, you will be responsible for receiving police referrals for women and children who are victims of family violence and will respond and/or refer to the appropriate services in a timely manner.

Additionally, known as "Enhanced Intake Services", the Aboriginal Health Practitioner is also responsible for receiving police referrals for perpetrators of family violence and to respond and/or refer to appropriate services in a timely manner.

This is a permanent full‑time position.


Key Selection Criteria

* Demonstrated ability to engage with children/young people who may be demonstrating challenging behaviours and/or trauma‑related behaviours associated with the child abuse and/or neglect.
* Ability to solve problems based on operational knowledge and experience, and following a continuous improvement process, in line with policy, procedures and therapeutic approaches and frameworks to work well within others in the pursuit of team goals and share information.
* Experience in communicating and negotiating with a broad range of people both Aboriginal and non‑Aboriginal people at all levels to achieve broad project objectives and goals.
* A sound knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and values and the ability to effectively communicate with Aboriginal people.
* Demonstrated strong administrative skills, with effectiveness in developing tasks and managing resources to achieve targets within set timeframes.

Qualification/s:
A tertiary qualification (or preparedness to obtain a qualification as part of the role) and case management experience in Community Services, Social Work, Youth Work or another relevant field.

Other Screening Requirements:
Valid Driver's License that allows you to drive in Australia.
Victorian Employee Working with Children Check card.
National Police Check.
