What you'll be doing
This isn't a back-office estimating role. You'll be front-facing, working closely with clients while delivering accurate, commercially viable estimates.
* Prepare detailed quotes, tenders, and cost estimates for structural steel and light fabrication projects
* Interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and fabrication details with precision
* Advise clients on materials, finishes, and fabrication methods
* Build and maintain relationships to generate new business opportunities
* Collaborate with workshop, drafting, and procurement teams to confirm scope and pricing
* Follow up quotes and actively contribute to sales targets and revenue growth
What you'll bring
Essential experience:
* Strong understanding of Australian Standards including AS 4100, AS/NZS 1554, and coatings/finishes standards
* Proven estimating experience in structural steel, light fabrication, or modular construction
* Confidence in assessing material, labour, logistics, and handling costs
* Knowledge of protective coatings (hot-dip galvanising, powder coating, industrial paint systems)
* Strong communication skills with a client-first mindset
* High attention to detail and solid organisational skills
Highly regarded
* Industry connections across modular construction, mining camps, transportables, or general steel fabrication
* Experience with tools like Tekla, Bluebeam, or AutoCAD
* Background in sales, account management, or business development within fabrication
