THE OPPORTUNITY

The primary purpose of this role is to support the Senior Financial Accountant and transaction processing team, ensuring the quality of the financial information recorded in the ATCs systems and that the Accounts Payable and bank reconciliation functions operate effectively and efficiently. These functions are to be carried out with a customer service approach with a focus on continuous improvement, promoting system efficiency through automation and streamlining of processes.

Key objectives of the role:

* Oversee the work of the Assistant Accountant and assist more junior team members as required.
* Prepare month end journals.
* Participate in the monthly review of the financial results with other senior finance team members and the Head of Corporate Services.
* Finance leases and ROU assets.
* Prepare specific balance sheet reconciliations within the time frame set by the Head of Corporate Services monthly.
* Be a reliable and supportive finance business partner to relevant departments to achieve their business objectives.
* Monthly liaison and support of business heads in managing and reporting against budget.
* Assist the Head of Corporate Services and the FP&A Manager with the collation of information required to create, and preparation of, Operating and Capex budgets on a yearly basis.
* Manage components of the external audit as required.
* Assist in the preparation of the Annual Report.
* Drive the development and continued improvement of financial processes, including promoting system efficiency through automation and streamlining of processes, and the documentation and communication of improvement processes.

THE RIGHT FIT

To be successful in the role, the right person will possess:

* A minimum of 3 years' experience in a commercial accounting role e.g. shared accounting services;
* A formal accounting qualification;
* A strong background in both public practice and commercial environments would be desirable as the role is a mix of finance, accounting and business analysis;
* A 'can do', 'hands on' approach with follow through on difficult issues;
* Integrity - must be able to demonstrate and maintain high ethical standards of conduct;
* Experience and knowledge of EBMS, SUN, SAP, Great Plains or any other large commercial accounting package is an advantage;
* Initiative and ability to behave in a self-directed manner;
* Solid understanding of AIFRS and Australian Taxation legislations;
* Knowledge of all areas of accounts processing: accounts payable, receivable, bank reconciliations, GST compliance, fixed asset processing, dealing with external auditors and month end reporting;
* Strong accounting technical skills;
* Exceptional communication skills with ability to converse with staff across all business disciplines;
* Desirable: CA or CPA.
