About the Opportunity
The Renewable Energy Project Lead will lead Council's strategic and coordinated response to renewable energy projects within the region. This role will act as the primary liaison between Council, renewable energy proponents, government agencies, and the community, while also ensuring internal alignment across departments.
The position will drive the development and implementation of policies, frameworks, and engagement activities that maximise benefits and minimise impacts of renewable energy developments on the community, local economy, and environment. A key component of the role is facilitating collaboration across internal teams to ensure a proactive, unified, and informed organisational approach to the rapidly evolving renewable energy landscape.
What you need to be successful:
• A relevant tertiary qualification in renewable energy, planning, economic development, environmental management, public policy, project management, or a related field and/or relevant experience.
• Current Driver's Licence
• National Police Check
Desirable
• Renewable energy industry and infrastructure knowledge
• Experience and knowledge in a Local Government setting
• Understanding of State Significant Development and Renewable Energy Zones
• Experience with Voluntary Planning Agreements and Community Benefits models
• Experience and knowledge of best practice stakeholder engagement
