The Security Officer protects life and property of all persons on hospital premises. Patrols hospital buildings and grounds to prevent fire, theft, vandalism and violent acts. Secures and unlocks hospital buildings and property. Responds to security needs of personnel, patients and visitors.
Responsibilities
* Patrol the facility, buildings and grounds.
* Secure and unlock hospital buildings and property.
* Control crowds.
* Respond to emergency codes.
* Enforce parking and traffic policy.
* Investigate incidents and create reports.
* Perform lost and found duties.
* Transport deceased patients.
* Monitor disturbances, thefts, vandalism and assaults.
* Assist with combative patients.
* Utilize de‐escalation techniques with combative patients and visitors.
* Adhere to organization‐wides and applicable policies and procedures.
* Comply with Service Excellence Behavioral Expectations.
* Operate within Ethics, Compliance and Confidentiality Program guidelines.
* Operate within professional Scope of Practice at all times.
Qualifications
* High school diploma or equivalent (required).
* Associate's degree or higher in a related field (preferred).
* Two (2) years of healthcare security experience or equivalent (required).
* Prior experience in security, law enforcement or military (preferred).
* Effective communication and report writing skills (required).
* Knowledge of computers and video surveillance (preferred).
* Valid driver's license (required).
* Private Security Officer License and/or IAHSS Certification (preferred).
