About the role
We are currently seeking an Assistant Accountant to join our team to help support the Financial Reporting Team and Finance Transactional Services Team across end‐to‐end transactional accounting operations and financial accounting requirements. Other key accountabilities of this role include:
* Managing balance sheet reconciliations, sub‐ledgers and month‐end reporting
* Ensuring compliance with Purchase Card Policy and maintaining transactional controls and systems
* Preparing and reconciling withholding tax declarations at end of financial year
* Administering lodgments of Point of Consumption tax
* Supporting the Wagering Team on domestic and international product fee reconciliations
* Reviewing and approving transactional pool workflow items daily
* Assisting with internal and external audits
* Be responsible for end‐to‐end Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable functions
* Coordinate allocation and receipt of payments and process daily bank statements
* Process accounts payable payment runs and EFT/electronic payments (domestic and international)
* Maintain accurate debtor records, follow up overdue accounts and resolve reconciliation items
Qualifications
About you
* Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or related field
* Experience in a transactional finance team (AR/AP)
* Strong understanding of accounting principles and GST compliance (ATO)
* Experience with complex general ledger reconciliations
* Experience using accounting systems and Microsoft Office
* Knowledge of relevant legislation, treasury instructions, accounting principles and practices applicable to the position
