About the Role
We are seeking a diligent and detail-focused Accounts Payable Officer (AO3) to join a Queensland State Government program based in Berrinba. This full-time temporary position forms part of a dedicated finance team responsible for high-volume payment processing and vendor management.
In this role, you will contribute to accurate and timely accounts payable functions, resolve queries, undertake reconciliations, and support compliance with government financial processes. Key Responsibilities
* Process payments accurately and efficiently, ensuring timely payment and adherence to policies and legislation.
* Create and maintain vendor records in SAP with complete and accurate information.
* Prepare General Purpose Expenditure Vouchers (GPEVs) and process purchase order invoices.
* Reconcile vendor statements and follow up to resolve discrepancies.
* Respond to routine AP queries and escalate more complex matters when required.
* Follow up with financial delegates for approvals, clarifications, and cost centre confirmations. Escalate delays appropriately.
* Ensure correct use of GL codes in line with Whole of Government Chart of Accounts guidelines.
* Assist with maintaining compliance with financial management standards and internal controls.
* Undertake general finance support tasks as directed.
About You
* Strong attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
* Clear, effective written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to follow established financial procedures, approvals, and compliance processes.
* Willingness to seek clarification when required, ensuring alignment with public sector standards.
* Openness to feedback and continuous improvement.
* Previous experience in Accounts Payable and SAP (highly desirable).
