Join the Australian Childhood Trauma Group as a full-time Mental Health Clinician based in our Canberra office. In this vital role, you will provide comprehensive trauma informed services to children, young people and families who have experienced trauma.
Mental Health Clinician (Psychologist / Social Worker / OT / Counsellor or similar)

The Australian Childhood Trauma Group (ACT Group) is a respected provider of mental health, trauma-informed therapeutic services, and disability support. We partner with government and non-government agencies, schools, and families to deliver high-quality interventions that help children, young people and adults build safety, connection and positive outcomes.
We are seeking an experienced Mental Health Clinician to join our Canberra team. This role offers the opportunity to provide direct trauma-informed therapeutic services, contribute to service development, and work across education, community and family systems.

Key Responsibilities
- Deliver trauma-informed therapeutic services to children, young people, families and adults
- Conduct functional behaviour assessments and develop Positive Behaviour Support Plans in line with NDIS standards
- Provide training, guidance and secondary consultation to carers, educators and professionals
- Maintain high-quality clinical governance, documentation and compliance with ACTG Practice Frameworks
- Collaborate with schools, agencies and community partners to ensure holistic and effective service delivery
- Contribute to service development projects and continuous quality improvement initiatives
About You
Qualified Psychologist (AHPRA), Occupational Therapist, Mental Health Nurse, or Mental Health Social Worker (AASW-accredited)
Minimum 3 years’ experience in health, disability, education or social services
Strong understanding of trauma-informed practice and complex trauma
Experience in functional assessments and behaviour support planning (NDIS-aligned)
Excellent clinical reporting, communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Current Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) or Working with Children Check, Police Check, and Driver’s Licence
Experience with dyadic or relational therapies
Group facilitation or training experience
Innovative and creative therapeutic approaches with children and young people
