Graduate Finance Role
This role is an exciting opportunity for a recent graduate to join our finance team and contribute to the financial operations of our local government.
About the Role
The successful candidate will have the chance to gain practical experience across a range of finance functions, including payroll, financial reporting, asset management, budgeting, and long-term financial planning. They will work closely with experienced accountants and other finance professionals to develop their skills and knowledge.
As a key member of the finance team, the Graduate Accountant will be responsible for supporting the Council's financial operations, including providing high-quality financial information to stakeholders. They will also have opportunities to participate in training and development programs, and to take on new challenges as they grow in their role.
Key Responsibilities
* Supporting the Council's financial operations, including payroll, financial reporting, asset management, budgeting, and annual and long-term financial planning
* Gaining practical experience across a broad range of local government finance functions
* Working within the finance team and under the guidance of experienced accountants
Requirements
To be successful in this role, the ideal candidate will hold a tertiary qualification in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline (or be nearing completion). They will have a solid understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting requirements, and possess high-level computer skills, particularly in spreadsheet and database applications.
They will also demonstrate strong attention to detail, excellent organisational skills, and excellent verbal and written communication skills. The ideal candidate will be proactive in seeking opportunities to learn and develop professionally, and be comfortable working both independently and as part of a team.

* Base salary range of $76,843 per annum based on relevant skills and experience
