The Department - Tv & Online Content
Is to make SBS Australia's most distinctive media organisation focused on delivering a clear promise to our audiences, to inspire them to seek out different perspectives, to feel a sense of connection, belonging and empowerment. As our streaming services continue to grow, not just in terms of audience engagement but also the size of our content catalogue. There is an ongoing need for program metadata and digital live stream quality assurance in this fast-paced and evolving area of the business. In this context, the Digital Metadata Specialist plays a key role in ensuring content travels to our platforms with the correct metadata and componentry information. You will work cross-functionally with editorial, operations and technology teams, to ensure all components for scheduled content has been delivered ahead of ‘go live’. This role is highly collaborative, proactive and will be largely self-directed.
The Role
Reporting into the Content Operations Lead within our Tv & Online Content team this role will see you;
1. Liaising with TV & Online Content teams to understand strategies, planning and Schedules to ensure digital online requirements for internally produced content, key events, live streaming and shortform content are met.
2. Leading the program delivery quality assurance of content that flows to SBS OnDemand and SBS digital platforms. Conduct metadata and componentry checks of all internal production titles and live content, ensuring that the teams responsible for each core component of the workflow have correctly captured the requirements and executed the requisite tasks, such as the streams being booked/configured correctly. Identify gaps or discrepancies in the workflow that may impact successful playout and report any errors back to the relevant team members for resolution.
3. Using MPX and IBMS, generate program placeholders for special online events and oversee the end-to-end workflow by collaborating effectively with production teams.
4. Initiating workflows to update programs in the MAM system, when required, and ensure data is accurate before actioning.
5. As a subject matter expert in broadcast digital metadata, working closely with the Manager, Content Discovery on the governance and development of best practice relating to SBS On Demand’s integration with Gracenote.
6. Performing governance role with respect to consistent naming conventions across program deals in IBMS, to ensure all SBS teams are set up for success with related systems I.e. accurate ratings analysis for the Audience Strategy and Insights team, and SBS Media Sales.
7. Workflow Enhancements: Continuously seek to improve operations, contributing to any UAT requirements that ensure seamless programming, on-time without error.
8. Other Duties: As required assisting Content Operations team on projects and content deliverables
It is a requirement of this role that incumbents are fully vaccinated with an approved Covid-19 vaccination in line with the ATAGI guidelines. We do however have a medical exemption process and we would be happy to discuss your application should this be applicable to you.

About you
9. Experienced in an operations role within a broadcast environment, including solid experience with the business management system, IBMS. MPX & other video content management systems is highly desirable.
10. A confident individual that can communicate and tailor complex ideas in a meaningful and beneficial way to a range of stakeholders.
11. A strong eye for detail is essential
12. Solid written & verbal communication skills
