The CNS2 in the Acute Surgical Unit (ASU) provides advanced clinical leadership and specialist nursing support in the management of patients admitted with acute surgical conditions at Wollongong Hospital. The role focuses on delivering safe, efficient, and evidence-based surgical care from admission through to discharge.
The CNS2 plays a key role in the early recognition and management of deteriorating patients, supports and actions clinical decision-making with the multidisciplinary team to ensure positive patient outcomes and optimised patient flow. The CNS2 will act as a clinical resource, providing education and support to nursing staff throughout the hospital for all acute surgical patients. The CNS2 will promote excellence in acute surgical nursing through leadership in practice development and quality improvement initiatives within the surgical service.

Wollongong Hospital, located on Dharawal Country, is the Illawarra Shoalhaven's major referral and teaching hospital and has a bed-base count of more than 500. The campus, which incorporates the Illawarra Regional Cancer Care Centre, provides a comprehensive range of inpatient, outpatient and community-based services.

Working With Children Check (WWCC)
Current AHPRA Registration
Valid NSW Drivers Licence
Relevant post-registration qualification and at least 3 years' experience working in the clinical area of their specified post-graduate qualification, or such other qualification or equivalent experience deemed appropriate.
