The opportunity

Reporting to the Senior Media and Communications Manager, you will support the delivery of media and communications strategies that amplify Murdoch Children's Research Institute's (MCRI) research, initiatives and impact.

You will work closely with researchers, stakeholders and media to bring important stories to life — from patient case studies to major research breakthroughs.

What you'll do

* Write and distribute media releases, stories and content across multiple channels
* Support and execute media campaigns and communications plans
* Build and maintain relationships with journalists and media outlets
* Translate complex scientific information into clear, engaging contentSupport researchers with media engagement and interview preparation
* Monitor media activity and contribute to reporting and insights
* Assist with digital, social and video content creation

What you'll bring

* Around 5+ years' experience in media, communications or journalism
* Strong experience writing media releases and feature stories
* Ability to translate technical or scientific content into engaging communications
* Experience working with media and building journalist relationships
* Excellent stakeholder engagement and interpersonal skills
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
