About the Role
Reporting into the production and project teams, the Hands-On Quality Technician is responsible for final quality inspections, identifying defects, performing minor rectifications, and supporting continuous improvement across fabrication and installation processes.
This is a practical, shop-floor and site-based role suited to someone who thrives on accountability, problem-solving, and driving quality standards.

Key Responsibilities
Final Quality Inspection
* Inspect completed installations to ensure compliance with design, functional, and appearance standards
Issue Identification & Rectification
* Identify, document, and photograph quality issues or defects
* Undertake minor touch-ups, adjustments, or repairs where within scope
* Liaise with production teams or subcontractors to rectify major non-conformances
Reporting & Documentation
* Maintain accurate inspection logs and issue tracking records
* Prepare detailed quality and defect reports, including corrective actions and recommendations
* Initiate rework requests or claims with subcontractors or suppliers when required
Workshop & Process Quality Control
* Monitor fabrication quality, welding procedures, finishing standards, and safety compliance
* Support adherence to Quality Management Systems, specifically ISO 9001
* Work closely with production teams to identify and implement process improvements
Stakeholder Engagement
* Communicate effectively with estimating, production, and project teams to resolve quality issues
* Liaise professionally with customers on-site when required regarding quality or post-installation concerns

What You'll Bring
Experience & Qualifications
* Proven experience in metal fabrication, manufacturing, or construction environments
* Strong understanding of fabrication standards, tolerances, and surface finishes (galvanising, powder coating)
* Working knowledge of Quality Management Systems, particularly ISO 9001
* Ability to read and interpret drawings and fabrication plans
* Hands-on capability to perform minor installation or cosmetic repairs
* Experience preparing inspection, audit, and non-conformance reports
* Current driver's licence and willingness to attend project or installation sites
* White Card (desirable)
