PRIMARY OBJECTIVE
The system controller is responsible for making timely, strategically informed decisions to meet the generation and energy market
requirements. These skills will be applied to three regulated power systems simultaneously, ensuring compliance with the operating
envelope of the generation, transmission, and distribution systems.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The “WHAT” to be delivered
* Estimate demand based on weather conditions, network conditions, and update dynamically as parameters change.
* Monitor, dispatch, and control diverse generation fleets (fossil fuel, renewable, and energy storage) to meet system security, market
operations, and demand forecasts.
* Review risk notices, work instructions, procedures, secure system guidelines, and technical codes to consolidate information and
understand the power system operating envelope.
* Formulate system restoration strategies and contingency plans, proactively and reactively, as system situations require.
* Document and report system operations and events in a daily log, ensuring relevant stakeholders are informed as required.
* Assist in the development and maintenance of work instructions and procedures, while contributing to and suggesting opportunities for
improvements.
* Provide support and relief to both the Senior System Controller (grade 3) and Assistant System Controller (grade 1).
* Provide guidance, support and mentoring to trainees and other team members.
