Since 1928, the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) has delivered vital aeromedical, emergency and primary health care across Australia. Through our Patient Transport Service, we provide non‐emergency patient transport in Victoria and New South Wales, supporting patients with safe, compassionate care as they travel between home, hospitals and specialist clinics—on the ground and in the air.
About the role
Flying Doctor Patient Transport is seeking motivated and caring Patient Transport Officers to join our Metro (Mitcham/Essendon) team. This full‐time role offers flexibility, structured training, and the opportunity to work alongside experienced clinicians in a supportive environment—without the pressures of emergency response work.
Key responsibilities
* Perform patient assessment and intervention during road transport.
* Deliver safe, compassionate care aligned with RFDS clinical guidelines and NEPT regulations.
* Monitor patients and evaluate responses to treatment en route.
* Work collaboratively with a partner clinician in a team‐based model.
Qualifications and experience required
* A minimum qualification of Cert III in Non‐Emergency Patient care, Diploma of Nursing, or equivalent. Bachelor of Health Science (Paramedic) students may apply on completion of second year subject units.
* Experience working in the NEPT sector in an equal role desirable but not essential.
* Full Victorian Driver Licence.
* National Police Check, Working with Children Check and right to work in Australia.

Mandatory vaccination policy

* Hepatitis B – 3x doses + serology.
* Chicken Pox.

* Annual Influenza.
