RolePosition summary & primary objectives
Provide hands on and management support to the Facilities Manager for all facets of the College Grounds and Buildings.
The primary objective is to ensure that the College grounds and facilities are maintained and improved in accordance with School Council priorities and DET guidelines.
Ensure OHS responsibilities are maintained and well managed.
With the Facilities Manager, ensure that the maintenance team develop a strong culture whilst meeting short and longer term objectives through a proactive and targeted approach.
This position has a Leave Purchase requirement of up to 30 days during the school holiday period.

Responsibilities
- The Facilities Leader reports directly to the Facilities Manager and or the Business Manager for the effective performance of daily duties.
- To take a 'hands on¿ role in performing daily maintenance tasks whenever required which will include, but not limited to: graffiti removal, emergency and general maintenance, litter pick up, cleaning, distribution of deliveries along with other duties as required.
- To schedule and document planned maintenance activities and compliance inspections, including, but not limited to essential services, air conditioning, heating, electrical, plumbing, fire services, pest control, painting, concreting, engineering, glazing, carpenters, asbestos audits, facilities audits, courts, grounds, gym and weights room and department inspections.
- To prepare quotes and timelines for contract work.
- To manage, coordinate and instruct grounds/maintenance staff and service contractors and ensure works are carried out with due regard to protection of the buildings and grounds and with minimum disruption to school activities.
- To ensure that all contractors provide information pertaining to OHS requirements including relevant safe work methods/certificates for equipment and machinery.
- Management of school vehicle assets.
- To respond to service requests from staff for breakdowns and repairs and maintain records of such requests.
- To assist the Facilities Manager in developing maintenance and grounds budgets as required.
- Liaise with Junior and Senior school Principals on schoolwide resource requirements ie. Lockers.
- Identify works that can be completed by Staughton College, outsourcing other works to suitably qualified tradespeople within budget constraints.
- Liaising with and coordinating the necessary tradespeople to achieve set tasks within required timeframes, ensuring mínimal disruption to the school.
- Supervising tradespeople and quality of work when onsite, including during school holiday periods where required.
- To identify, report and advise on major furniture, fixture and equipment renewal needs across the school.
- To implement appropriate OHS; and risk management procedures and ensure staff and contractors comply with OHS requirements and legislated standards.
