Make every day different by joining our People and Culture Services department as a Human Resources Consultant - Senior. In this specialist role, you will provide expert advice and support to Senior Leaders across a wide range of employment related areas, including but not limited to performance development, disciplinary processes, grievances, appeals, Independent Medical Examinations and more. You will expand on your expertise providing specialist support to line managers and delegates through training and support.
About us:
The workforce advisory team scope of work provides you with an excellent opportunity to put your experience in Human resources into practice. The team is structured in a dedicate portfolio arrangement that allows a deep understanding of the business area and for each consultant to adapt service to ensure it is suited to support line managers and leaders to deliver clinical services. Regular performance reporting review and analysis to provide practical advice to portfolio leaders is an important service of the team. Using HR metrics to develop solutions is key to providing pathways to support the workforce. The teams strong focus for 2026 is to support lining managers to be proactive in staff performance management and conduct to ensure the accountability across the health service.
About you:
In your new role you will……
* Foster a collaborative engagement approach with clients to embed a coaching culture and improve the leadership and people management capability of Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service to best achieve its objectives.
* Actively work with other specialist People and Culture team managers and clients to identify and drive improvements that improve quality in the quality of service delivered by HR.
* Identify, analyse and review emerging issues and trends in liaison with specialist People and Culture team managers relating to people, culture and organisational capability promoting awareness across the health service.
About your opportunity:
In this position you will…..
* Utilise highly developed interpersonal communication, business acumen, consulting and negotiation skills with the proven capacity to provide authoritative, professional and ethical advice to build and maintain appropriate and professionally credible relationships at senior levels.
* Actively work with other specialist People and Culture team managers and clients to manage/support casework relating to conduct and performance matters (including positive performance management; complex grievance and discipline), in line with prescribed timelines.
* Maintain and apply knowledge of employment legislation, awards and agreements, policies and best practice to identify and resolve complex workforce issues in a consistent manner in line with requirements.
