Fluid Power AU is a rapidly growing engineering business specialising in the design, service and supply of hydraulic equipment to the Mining, Oil & Gas, Defence, Marine, Earthmoving and Power Generation industries in the Top End of the Northern Territory, Australia.
We have an opportunity for a Mechanical Engineering Technician to join our team. The position requires engagement with a wide range of industries and will involve assisting in mechanical engineering research, design, manufacture, construction, operation and maintenance of machines, manufacturing equipment, mechanical installations and facilities.
Benefits Above award wages with penalties paid for overtime ($100,000 - $140,000) 38 hour base working week plus overtime Occasional Remote work with generous allowances paid Well-equipped workshop Friendly team working environment Tasks & Responsibilities Preparing drawings, plans and designs for mechanical engineering work under the direction of Mechanical Engineers and Technicians Assisting in the design of mechanical equipment and plant Selecting tools and equipment Assembling and installing new and modified mechanical assemblies, components, machine tools and controls, and hydraulic power systems Estimating material costs and quantities, and machine requirements Performing and directing field and laboratory tests Collecting and analysing data, carrying out complex computations and preparing diagrams Organising and supervising inspection and maintenance of machines and plant Ensuring that designs and finished work are within specifications, regulations and contract provisions Qualification & Experience A Mechanical Engineering Technician qualification (eg: Associate Degree, Advanced Diploma or Diploma) or equivalent A sound understanding of hydraulic systems inclusive of: Fixed Displacement systems Closed Loop Hydraulic Transmission Pressure & Flow Compensated (Load Sense) Electro Proportional hydraulic control Ability to read and understand hydraulic schematic drawings At least five years of relevant experience A good eye for detail Good organisational skills and ability to prioritise Ability to work unsupervised Willingness to work remote occasionally (mines & oil rigs) About Company Fluid Power AU is a small busy team who work hard to exceed customer expectations.
