Job Description
* Lead systems and/or software engineering activities across complex rail and transport projects
* Manage system requirements, traceability, interfaces and integration across the full project lifecycle
* Drive delivery of system architecture, functional design and integration outcomes
* Plan, execute and support factory and site testing, including verification and validation activities
* Contribute to rail safety assurance activities, including RAMS analysis and safety documentation
* Apply systems engineering standards and best practices to ensure compliant, reliable solutions
* Support continuous improvement of engineering standards, processes and methodologies
* Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, contractors, vendors and client stakeholders
* Prepare clear, concise technical documentation, reports and engineering deliverables
* Share lessons learned and technical knowledge across projects to improve efficiency and outcomes
The Successful Applicant
What You'll Need to Succeed
* Degree qualification in Engineering, Computer Science or a related discipline
* Proven experience as a Principal Systems Engineer and/or Senior Software Engineer within rail or transport projects
* Strong understanding of systems engineering principles across the project lifecycle
* Experience applying standards such as ISO/IEC 15288 and ISO/IEC 24748‑1 (rail environment preferred)
* Rail safety assurance experience, including CENELEC standards and safety case development
* RAMS experience, particularly EN 50126
* Strong system integration and interface management experience
* Ability to contribute to verification, validation, factory and site testing activities
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders
* Strong technical documentation and report‑writing skills
Highly Regarded
* Experience in ETCS and/or CBTC rail environments
* Background in safety‑critical or mission‑critical software systems
* Membership or eligibility for professional bodies such as INCOSE, SESA or similar
