About the Role
We are seeking a skilled legal professional to join our dedicated Legal and Property Team, reporting to the Senior Lawyer and Property Advisor. This is a permanent full-time role based at a central location.
As a member of our team, you will contribute to the administration of land and property portfolios in line with best practice, corporate policies and procedures, directives and legislative requirements.
* Provide high-quality legal advice and services on contractual, property and administrative legal matters.
* Draft, review, and negotiate various legal documents, including contracts, agreements, and leases.
* Stay up-to-date with relevant legislation and provide advice on changes and their implications.
* Manage legal risks and develop strategies to ensure compliance with legal obligations.
* Brief external advisers on court proceedings and provide advocacy services when necessary.
To be successful in this role, you must have a Bachelor of Law degree from a recognized institution and admission to practice as a lawyer in Victoria with a minimum of two years' experience.
You should have experience interpreting legal matters in a local government context and exposure to property law, contracts, procurement, administrative law or prosecutions in a local government setting.
We are looking for individuals with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and the ability to communicate complex legal concepts to non-legal stakeholders.
