Overview

$76,912 - $82,464 per annum (pro-rata) + 25% loading. This is a permanent full-time position commencing ASAP.

Broome Residential College is located in a safe and secure setting behind Broome Senior High School and close to St Mary’s Catholic College. The College provides boarding accommodation for secondary students from Years 7 to 12 who study in Broome at either school. Our college supervisors and staff provide support to help our students to succeed at school and after school. Staff and supervisors organise after-school activities for students including community sports, shopping days, outings to the beach and fishing.

The Role

The Aboriginal Boarding Supervisor supports and reinforces appropriate values and behaviours in students, particularly Aboriginal students, while fulfilling an appropriate duty of care in creating a positive, happy and culturally safe boarding environment for students and staff. The successful applicant will respect and embrace diversity within the student population whilst providing and supervising opportunities that enrich students’ personal and social development, particularly for Aboriginal students.

The successful applicant will plan and implement a wide range of suitable activities for all students, ensuring students receive appropriate care to maintain health and wellbeing, while undertaking regular, positive communication and liaison with colleagues, parents/guardians, school staff, other professionals and local community members in support of the development and wellbeing of students, particularly Aboriginal students.

Qualifications & Requirements

- Be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, permanent resident or have a valid visa with relevant work rights for the term of the appointment.
- Obtain or hold a current Working with Children Check if required.
- Work according to rostered hours which may include nights, weekends and public holidays.
- Obtain and maintain a current First Aid Certificate – Provide First Aid (HLTAID003) within six months of commencement of employment.
- LR Class Driver’s Licence and a Passenger Transport Driver (PTD) authorisation; Aquatic Rescue for Group III Pool Award* (as required); and
- Obtain a Certificate IV in Community Services – Student Residential Care (CHC42021) within six months of commencement of employment.

* Dependent on operational requirements as determined by College Manager.

- Demonstrated capacity to meet and maintain the required eligibility and training requirements of this position
