Primary objective

To assist in the implementation of departmental and school-based policies and programs to achieve optimal educational outcomes

for children with varying degrees of impairment, to facilitate the effective and successful inclusion of students into the community

by delivery of school projects and initiatives that promote life skills, wellbeing, and practical learning experiences.

Context statement

Moil Primary School caters to approximately 200 students from Pre-school to Year 6, including five Intensive English Unit classes

that support children from non-English-speaking backgrounds. Committed to fostering personal growth, practical skills, and lifelong

learning, the school provides a respectful, safe, and inclusive environment where every student is encouraged to reach their full

potential. To support this vision, Moil is introducing a range of initiatives offering hands-on experiences that promote healthy living,

teamwork, and responsibility in a dynamic and supportive setting.

Key duties and responsibilities

1. Collaborate with teaching staff to plan, deliver, and assess individualised educational programs that meet the diverse academic,

social, and emotional needs of students.

1. Lead and manage key school initiatives such as the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden, Rock and Water, and Learning

Through Doing—overseeing planning, resource allocation, student participation, and safe supervision of activities.

1. Maintain and organise learning materials and equipment to support hands-on, project-based learning. Ensure resources are

accessible, aligned with curriculum goals, and promote student independence and practical life skills.

1. Participate in school events and professional development, including after-hours meetings and activities, to support whole-

school engagement and continuous improvement.

1. Communicate effectively and professionally with students, staff, and families, upholding confidentiality and fostering positive

relationships within the school community.

Selection criteria

Essential

1. Proven ability to support P–6 students with diverse needs by implementing structured, evidence-based strategies that

enhance academic achievement and functional skills in a primary school setting.

2. Demonstrated successful experience leading hands-on, student-focused projects including wellbeing programs, that build life

skills.

1. Strong organisational and time management skills to meet project and school goals with strong resource and activity

management.

1. Effective oral, written and digital communication skills and demonstrated ability to work both independently and

collaboratively within a team, exercising sound judgement and initiative.

5. Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills with parents, students, staff, and the wider community, showing empathy, patience,

and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic and challenging environment.

1. NT Drivers Licence, Current Working with Children Clearance Notice and First Aid Certificate.

Desirable

1. Qualifications or ability to obtain qualifications related to supporting students with disability in educational settings,

2. Experience with the Stephanie Alexander Kitchen Garden Program.

the process of obtaining, a current Working with Children Card and current First Aid Certificate.
