* Lead and manage the strategic planning, development, delivery and continuous improvement of vocational education, employment services and industry operations at Malmsbury Youth Justice Precinct.
* Coordinate vocational pathways by strengthening connections between Youth justice programs, industry operations and external education/employment sectors.
* Engage young people and prepare them for community participation through employment pathways, including supporting links to potential employers.

The Department of Justice and Community Safety (Youth Justice) is responsible for the statutory supervision of young people in the criminal justice system in Victoria focussing on prevention, diversion, and early intervention as the most effective and fiscally responsible ways of reducing youth crime. As an area within the department, Youth Justice is always committed to the demonstration of the VPS values: responsiveness, integrity, impartiality, accountability, respect, leadership and human rights.

Youth Justice custodial precincts accommodate young people aged 12-18 years who have been remanded or sentenced by the Criminal Division of the Children's Court, and some 18-21 year olds sentenced by Adult Courts to a Youth Justice custodial precinct.

Youth Justice Custodial Services aim to engage young people in change by addressing their offending behaviour and equipping them with the skills required for positive community participation, within a safe and secure environment.

The Malmsbury Youth Justice Precinct is reopening in 2026. It will accommodate a small cohort of young men aged 17 and over with a focus on vocational training, employment opportunities and education, enhancing rehabilitative outcomes.

The opportunity

* Ongoing, full time position based at the Malmsbury Youth Justice Precinct though travel to other locations may be required.
* VPS5 role: $113,022 - $136,747 per year plus super.
* Oversee the strategic planning, delivery and continuous improvement of education access, employment services and industry operations at Malmsbury Youth Justice Precinct.
* Manage a multidisciplinary team to support engagement, appropriate training, education and employment support pathways.
* Develop and maintain relationships with industry, social enterprise groups and support service agencies to provide long term employment opportunities and support the transition of young people into the community.
* Encourage and coordinate young people engaging in employment pathways through the implementation of a range of employment and training support, coordination and planning.

To be successful in this role you will have:

* Demonstrated understanding of employment related service systems.
* Experience in managing general business operations and an understanding of vocational services training and adult education.
* Demonstrated commitment to working with staff, young people and service providers in the delivery of an integrated, whole of Justice approach to reducing recidivism.

A qualification in psychology, education, Allied Health, criminology, youth work, social studies, justice, community services, or AOD is desirable. A current Victorian driver's licence is also desirable due to the potential need to travel to other locations.

You will be required to obtain a Working with Children Check (WWCC) to be maintained by the employee for the period of employment.
