At the Sydney Children's Hospitals Network, every role helps children and young people live their healthiest lives.

As the largest paediatric health service in Australia, we care for thousands of children each year, in hospital and at home. Our people are united by compassion, collaboration and excellence in care.
Step into a role where your expertise helps shape a new era of paediatric complex care. We're launching the Complex Medical Inpatient Unit (CMIPU) — a purpose built 21 bed service supporting children with diverse, complex and highly coordinated care needs. Opening in May 2026, this Australian first model is designed to provide stability, continuity and relationship based care for children who experience frequent or prolonged hospital stays.
Within the CMIPU, you'll also care for a cohort of children who require long term ventilation via a tracheostomy. This group benefits from a specialised, well supported model of care that focuses on safety, consistency and strong family partnerships — all delivered within the broader multidisciplinary environment.
What you'll do
• Deliver high quality, evidence based care to children with a wide range of complex medical needs
• Provide skilled nursing care to children requiring long term ventilation as part of your patient mix
• Work as part of a large, diverse and highly collaborative team of RNs, EENs, AINs, allied health clinicians and medical staff
• Guide, mentor and coordinate AINs and other team members to ensure safe, consistent and well organised care
• Build strong, trusting relationships with families during extended admissions
• Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver seamless, integrated care
• Contribute to a new model of paediatric care grounded in communication, stability and wrap around support
Who you'll care for Children from birth to 18 years with:
• Complex medical conditions and co morbidities
• Respiratory and sleep disorders
• Feeding, growth and developmental challenges
• Genetic conditions and disabilities
• Airway and respiratory support needs, including long term ventilation
• Children who spend long periods in hospital or return frequently for care
Why join us
• Be part of a groundbreaking, purpose built service
• Develop advanced skills across a broad spectrum of complex paediatric care
• Gain specialised experience with long term ventilation patients as well as other advanced clinical skills
• Work with passionate clinicians and dedicated Clinical Nurse Educators
• Help shape a new model of care from day one • Make a profound, lasting impact on children and families
