Based in BYD's Melbourne office in Mulgrave and reporting to the Finance Manager, we seek a meticulous and proactive Senior Accountant to join our high‐performing finance team.
Responsibilities
* Financial Reporting: Lead the month‐end and year‐end closing processes, preparing accurate financial statements in accordance with AASB/IFRS for both local statutory purposes and group consolidation.
* Intercompany & Consolidation: Manage intercompany transactions, reconciliations, and eliminations. Prepare and submit timely reporting packages to the China Head Office.
* Data Analysis & Provisioning: Extract, analyse, and review large volumes of accounting data; accurately calculate monthly provisions (accruals) and perform necessary adjustments or write‐backs.
* Stakeholder Coordination: Act as the primary finance contact between the Australian entity and the Chinese parent company, facilitating smooth communication regarding budgets, forecasts, and variance analysis.
* Compliance Support: Assist with statutory audits, tax filings (BAS/IAS), and ensure adherence to internal control policies.
* Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline accounting workflows and enhance the scalability of financial reporting systems.
* Ad‐hoc Projects: Provide support to the Finance Manager on various projects, including system implementations or special business analysis as required.
Basic Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
* Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience in a commercial accounting environment or public practice.
* Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with ERP systems such as SAP.
* Proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‐paced, deadline‐driven environment.
* Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication skills.
* Language: Fluency in English is essential. Proficiency in Mandarin Chinese is highly regarded, as the role involves frequent interaction with the Global HQ.
Preferred Qualifications
* CPA or CA qualification (or working towards) is highly preferred.
* Experience within the automotive or retail industry.
* Experience with Power BI or other data visualization tools.
