Wellington Shire Council is seeking an experienced and passionate Senior Horticulturalist to take responsibility for the day-to-day delivery of high-quality horticultural services across our public open spaces.

What You Will Be Doing
* Lead and coordinate horticultural maintenance across parks, gardens, and public open spaces.
* Supervise and support a dedicated team of Horticulture Crew members and subcontractors.
* Plan and implement seasonal programs for pruning, fertilising, pest control, and irrigation.
* Operate and maintain light mechanical plant and horticultural equipment.
* Manage worksite safety, traffic management, and ensure compliance with relevant legislation.
* Support the training, development, and performance of team members.
* Contribute to team planning, reporting, continuous improvement, and risk management.
* Provide high-quality customer service to the community and other stakeholders.
About You
You are an experienced horticultural professional with strong leadership skills and a keen eye for detail. You enjoy working outdoors, solving problems, and inspiring your team to deliver outstanding results.
You will bring:
* Certificate IV in Horticulture or significant practical experience in open space maintenance.
* Experience operating and maintaining light mechanical plant and irrigation systems.
* Strong knowledge of horticultural techniques, turf maintenance, and pest and disease control.
* The ability to plan and prioritise work, communicate clearly, and motivate others.
* A commitment to safety, environmental sustainability, and delivering high-quality services.
Mandatory licences and qualifications include:
* Medium Rigid motor vehicle driver licence
* Chemical Users Certificate
* Certificate to Implement a Traffic Management Plan
* Level 1 Chainsaw Operation
* Vehicle Loading Crane and Front-End Loader operation certification
* Compliance with Health Monitoring requirements (including hearing tests, immunisations, and medical examinations)
