Job Description
A Risk Manager plays a pivotal role in ensuring the effective management of risk within an organization. This professional is responsible for identifying, assessing, and mitigating potential risks that could impact business operations.
The Risk Manager works closely with various stakeholders to embed risk frameworks and improve risk maturity across the organization. This involves facilitating risk assessments, supporting change initiatives, testing controls, and contributing to risk governance to ensure risks are identified, evaluated, and mitigated effectively.
Key responsibilities include:
* Risk assessment: Conducting thorough risk profiling workshops and documenting risk assessments across business processes and change initiatives.
* Risk in Change: Collaborating with cross-functional teams to support change initiatives, ensuring risks are identified early and controls are embedded by design.
* Control testing: Regularly conducting control testing of key controls to provide assurance that they are operating as intended.
* Risk event and issue management: Supporting the investigation and remediation of operational risk events, ensuring correct root cause identification and trends are identified for continuous improvement.
* Material Service Providers risk profiles: Undertaking outsourcing risk assessments to understand risks associated with material service providers.
* Business continuity: Maintaining business continuity requirements to ensure resilience during disruptions.
* Training and awareness: Uplifting risk culture by delivering targeted training to employees, enhancing their understanding of risk management.
* Reporting and trend analysis: Contributing to risk governance by managing risk reporting for risk committees and delivering dashboards to senior management, including trend analysis to identify emerging risks.
Required Skills and Qualifications
The ideal candidate will possess:
* Experience in operational risk, internal/external audit, or assurance, preferably in banking or financial services.
* Strong understanding of risk management principles, including risk assessment methodologies and risk advisory.
* Proficiency in risk management platforms for risk event/incident management, controls testing, and risk profiles.
* Ability to challenge and advise while maintaining strong stakeholder relationships.
* Customer-focused mindset with ability to act on feedback.
* Understanding of banking and legislative requirements.
