About the Role
The Deadly Choice programs aim to empower Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples to make healthy choices for themselves and their families to stop smoking, eat good food, and exercise daily. The Deadly Choices program also encourages Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to access their local community-controlled health service and complete their annual 715 health check.
As a DC Program Officer for our Rockhampton team, you will be responsible for the delivery of school and community-based health education, promotion and prevention activities. This is a great opportunity to work in a small team and work within the Aboriginal and Torres Strait community.
Duties include but not limited to:
* Assist in the logistics and delivery of the Deadly Choices education program in schools and communities
* Undertake and promote CCHS services and refer participants for Aboriginal Health Checks, to other health programs and clinical advice for chronic diseases as appropriate
* As directed, undertake the effective facilitation instruction and role modelling of key health messages and Deadly Choices education program modules, including leadership, chronic disease physical activity, nutrition, harmful substances, tobacco and smoking cessation, Medicare access to primary health care
* Undertake the distribution of program surveys and their collection and ensure appropriate records of all program's activities are maintained.

Essential
* Preparedness to undertake further VET Training including Cert IV in Fitness
* Current Blue Card (Working with Children and young people) or willingness to apply for a Blue Card
* Current C Class Drivers Licence (QLD)
* Ability to travel across the designated region as required
Other Practical Requirements
* Immunisation requirements – It is a condition of employment for this role for the employee to be, and remain, vaccinated against the following vaccine preventable diseases: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis A and Pertussis (whooping cough) during their employment.
* Current CPR and First Aid Certificate.
* Satisfactory Police Criminal History Check.
* Strong knowledge or proficient in Microsoft (Word, Excel etc.)
