Job Description
The Mechanical Fitter is responsible for maintaining, repairing and installing the mechanical systems and components at the Paddington Processing Plant. The role involves completing routine preventive maintenance (PMs), shutdown work, shift coverage, and call‐out work in line with company safety and quality standards. The Mechanical Fitter reports to the Mechanical Supervisor and works closely with Plant Operations staff and Stores.
Key Duties and Tasks
* Diagnose faults and equipment breakdowns; estimate time and materials required for jobs and raise orders.
* Carry out time‐and‐material estimations for planned tasks and enter associated parts orders.
* Perform repairs, component change‐outs, preventive maintenance inspections, and equipment repairs in a safe, responsible, and timely manner.
* Conduct regular inspections of tools, equipment, tooling, work areas and plant to identify hazards, operational compliance, damage and defects.
* Provide training, supervision and support to apprentices where required.
* Assist new employees and contractors in applying company policies and procedures.
* Co‐ordinate additional duties over shutdown periods as required.
* Ensure all tasks meet quality standards and deadlines while maintaining safety compliance.
Role Requirements
* Mechanical Fitter Trade Qualification – Essential
* Current unrestricted "C" Class WA Manual Driver's Licence – Essential
* Satisfactory NPC clearance – Essential
* Valid work visa, permanent residency or Australian citizenship – Essential
* Forklift Licence – Desirable
* Senior First Aid Certificate – Desirable
* EWP & CN Crane Tickets – Desirable
* HR Ticket – Desirable
Skills and Experience
* Minimum of 2 years mine‐site fixed‐plant mechanical experience.
* Minimum of 3 years post‐apprentice mechanical work experience.
* Good communication skills – mature team player, able to communicate clearly via two‐way radio.
* Interpersonal skills; able to speak, read and write legibly in English at an Australian secondary school standard.
* Computer skills: previous Pronto or similar experience (desirable); basic Microsoft Office Suite skills (desirable).
