This position is considered to be the core business activity within the company and contains a number of different tasks. Most activities in the Engine Shop and Test Cell fall under the broad category of Gas Turbine Engine Repair and Overhaul Technician. A fully trained Engine Technician is able to complete to a certain degree of tasks related to the assembly, disassembly, inspection, balancing, airflow and test of a gas turbine engine in accordance with the manufacturer specification and company procedures. This position is a SSAA (Safety Sensitive Aviation Activity) and requires the holder of the position to fully comply with Vector's Drugs and Alcohol Management Plan unless otherwise advised.Duties include: Maintain a safe and clean working environment Conduct all work in accordance with company policies, quality procedures, manufactures and customer specification and industry regulations Complete all documentation related to the work being performed Receive incoming gas turbine engines Disassemble engines as required Clean engine components in preparation for detail inspection Visually inspect (and detail inspect for temporary periods) engine parts Perform boroscope inspections on engines Balance rotating components Assemble main engine, modules and all sub-assemblies Flow test of individual components and assemblies Test engines and components Prepare engine for dispatch Complete Request for Action (RFA) as and when required Take on daily task assignments and plans work to meet daily targets and customer requirements Assist in training of others ensuring quality standards are maintained The job holder will be responsible for seeking opportunities to increase personal effectiveness and planning training and development in discussion with his/her Supervisor Actively participate in Continuous Improvement programs and identifies opportunity for improvement in processes, working practices and team efficiency, acts as continuous improvement champion as required Utilise IT systems as appropriate Maintain positive working relationships with all internal departments and attend meetings if requested Adhere to all Environmental Health and Safety Regulations, Business Ethics and financial controls Report unsafe conditions and practices and make safety suggestions
