ENCOUNTER is an independent theatre company dedicated to disrupting entrenched systems through bold storytelling, intercultural collaboration, and work that provokes dialogue and social change.
Guided by our core values of Authenticity, Participation & Inclusion, Creativity and Leadership, we create theatre that amplifies under-represented voices, challenges the status quo, and sparks meaningful encounters across cultures.
Rooted in a belief that theatre is a catalyst for radical empathy and social transformation, we foster spaces where artists and communities can come together to imagine new possibilities and shift cultural narratives.
Role Description
This is a part-time hybrid role for a Creative Producer based in Perth, WA, with the flexibility to work remotely for part of the time.
As Creative Producer, you will work closely with the Artistic Director to shape and deliver ENCOUNTER's productions, development programs, and community initiatives.
You'll manage the full lifecycle of each work—from concept and development through rehearsals, production, touring, and final presentation—overseeing planning, budgets, logistics, and communication while coordinating artists and partners across cultures and countries.
Grounded in ENCOUNTER's values of Authenticity, Participation & Inclusion, Creativity, and Leadership, you will ensure culturally safe processes and uphold artistic integrity alongside practical excellence.
This role suits someone who thrives in people-centred, imaginative environments and can balance bold creative exploration with clear organisation, cultural competence, and confident leadership, taking ownership of projects and delivering high-quality outcomes without close supervision.
ENCOUNTER is committed to fostering a diverse, inclusive and culturally safe workplace where all employees feel respected and valued.
We deeply value lived experiences and strongly encourage candidates from First Nations, culturally diverse backgrounds, LGBTQIA+ individuals, people with disabilities, and anyone who may bring unique cultural, creative, or community perspectives to our team.

Proven experience producing mid-scale live performance and national touring.
Strong project management and leadership skills, with experience coordinating teams, collaborators, and keeping multiple projects moving forward with focus and consistency.
Demonstrated financial literacy, including budgeting, contracting and resource management.
Ability to collaborate closely with artists, managing creative and logistical requirements across diverse contexts.
Proven skills in building and maintaining meaningful relationships with partners, stakeholders, and collaborators, including identifying and nurturing new opportunities.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively both independently and within a distributed team.
Strong organisational skills with meticulous attention to detail, including the ability to create clear project plans, timelines, and workflows—and reliably adhere to them.
Experience working across cultures and communities, with a strong commitment to culturally safe, respectful, and inclusive arts practice.
A proactive, solutions-focused approach, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
Working With Children Check, or willingness to obtain one.
