About Queensland South Native Title Services

Queensland South Native Title Services (QSNTS) is a Native Title Service Provider funded by the Federal Government to assist Traditional Owners in the pursuit of their native title aspirations by providing a comprehensive range of statutory services under the Native Title Act 1993 (Cth). About the role:

As a Native Title Anthropologist for QSNTS, you will provide expert anthropological services and advice to support the preparation and presentation of native title determination applications and compensation applications and related post-determination activities. Your role will fulfill the obligations of QSNTS under s 203 of the Native Title Act 1993 (Cth).

* Undertake genealogical, anthropological, archaeological, and historical research to support Traditional Owners in pursuing and implementing their native title rights and interests. This includes:

* Liaising with Traditional Owners and expert consultants to coordinate research projects and associated field trips;

* Undertaking and comprehensively reporting upon, desktop and field research to support the achievement of sustainable outcomes for Traditional Owners;
* Contribute to the development of targeted terms of reference for consultancy contracts and monitoring compliance against the performance of contracts; and
* Review and analyse connection reports prepared by consultant anthropologists and provide advice and feedback to the authors and relevant QSNTS staff.
* Work collaboratively with the client management interdisciplinary team (CMT) to mitigate risks as they are identified and apply project management methodologies to achieve outcomes and facilitate continuous improvement.
* Engage in and promote QSNTS' Whole of Client/Whole of Organisation service delivery strategy to support the realisation of QSNTS' Strategic Plan objectives.
* Assisting with the provision of geospatial services and advice.
* Manage records and correspondence in accordance with QSNTS information management standards and record management system requirements.

About you

To thrive in this role, you will have:

* Bachelor of Arts (or Bachelor of Social Science) with Honours in Anthropology is required.
* 3-5 years of experience in a similar role is desirable.
* Knowledge of current Indigenous issues in contemporary society and commitment to the principles of advocacy and self-determination for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples.
* A good working knowledge or the ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of the Native Title Act 1993 (Cth) in relation to the statutory functions of QSNTS.
* The ability to work flexibly and collaboratively in a team environment.
* Ability to work autonomously to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities.
* Ability to communicate professionally and respectfully with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
* A commitment to QSNTS' values and objectives, including the provision of high-quality services to Indigenous Australians.
* Excellent research, analytical and data sourcing skills with the ability to prepare high quality reports, correspondence and other submissions.
* Must be able and willing to travel throughout Queensland regularly and possess a current open driver's license.
