Overview Connecting the Docs is re-imagining how medical professionals are recruited, supported, and retained in rural and regional Victoria.
As a bold, collaborative initiative backed by regional health services and key government partners, the program delivers sustainable workforce solutions where both practitioners and communities can thrive.
We are seeking a Program Director to lead this high-impact initiative into its next phase of growth.

This pivotal role will lead the Connecting the Docs (CTD) program, overseeing strategic direction, team management, stakeholder engagement, and workforce innovation.
You'll work closely with rural health services, government agencies, training providers and community organisations to ensure talented medical professionals are placed and supported where they're needed most.
Reporting to the Executive Director Medical Services at Echuca Regional Health and guided by a committed Steering Committee, you'll drive the program's strategic vision and day-to-day delivery.Key Responsibilities Lead the strategic and operational direction of the CTD program.Build strong partnerships across health services, government, and community sectors.Oversee recruitment, placement and retention strategies for medical professionals in regional Victoria.Manage the program team and foster a high-performing, collaborative culture.Ensure compliance, reporting and funding requirements are met.Contribute to state-level workforce planning and policy initiatives.Champion rural workforce sustainability and regional healthcare access.Skills and Experience Required Proven leadership in workforce programs, recruitment or health sector initiatives.Strong understanding of the Australian healthcare system and medical training pathways.Demonstrated ability to collaborate with diverse stakeholders across sectors.Experience in strategic planning, budget and resource management.High-level communication skills, including reporting to boards or committees.Experience leading multidisciplinary teams in dynamic environments.Understanding of rural workforce challenges and community integration strategies.Knowledge of governance, compliance and policy implementation.Desirable Tertiary qualification in Business, Management, Health Administration or a related field.Experience with government partnerships or regional program delivery.Details Preferred Location: Echuca Regional Health or a partnered health service (flexible working options negotiable)Employment Type: Full Time (1.0 FTE negotiable)Contract Type: Two Year fixed term contractSalary: In line with Health & Allied, Managers & Admin EA - HS7-HS8 (based on experience)Reports To: Executive Director Medical ServicesTeam: Regional Medical Workforce Recruitment Consultant, RWAV NavigatorLead a game-changing rural healthcare workforce program and make a measurable impact in regional and remote communities.
