About the Opportunity
An exciting opportunity is available for a motivated and patient-focused Enrolled Nurse to join the Hunter Joint Centre at New Maitland Hospital. This specialised unit is located within a state-of-the‐art hospital, offering contemporary facilities and advanced health system infrastructure that supports safe, high‐quality patient care and professional nursing practice. The Hunter Joint Centre is a dedicated orthopaedic unit with 12 funded beds, with additional beds utilised to support surge capacity. The unit is staffed by a diverse, inclusive, and highly experienced nursing team with a strong mix of medical and surgical expertise. You will be supported by a skilled multidisciplinary team, including Orthopaedic Specialists, Registered Nurses, a Clinical Nurse Consultant, Clinical Nurse Educator, and Allied Health professionals, all working collaboratively to deliver excellent patient outcomes.
As an Enrolled Nurse, you will work alongside Registered Nurses, other Enrolled Nurses, Assistants in Nursing, and allied health staff within a dynamic and supportive team environment. The unit is recognised for delivering best practice care for joint replacement patients through the Enhanced Recovery After Surgery (ERAS) model, which focuses on early recovery, effective pain management, and early mobilisation to support safe, efficient patient outcomes.
This position reports to NUM 5A and includes a comprehensive hospital and ward‐based orientation program. All new starters are supported to build confidence and competence in caring for orthopaedic patients, including those managed under the ERAS protocol, with access to ongoing clinical guidance, education, and professional development.
About You
You are a motivated and adaptable Enrolled Nurse with current AHPRA registration, committed to delivering high-quality, patient‐centred care and working effectively within a multidisciplinary team. Experience in orthopaedics, medical, or surgical nursing is desirable but not essential, as structured support and education will be provided.
