Based in Altona North 3025, our client is a Melbourne-based, family-owned business providing end-to-end power and equipment solutions for almost three decades. They are searching for a General Manager to lead daily workshop operations, support staff, and work side-by-side with their service and sales teams. If you like collaboration, understand utilities and equipment hire contexts, and enjoy keeping a privately owned business (Approx 30 employees) on track, this could be the next step for you.
What You'll Do
- Champion recruitment, staff coaching, and performance management for both operational and support teams.
- Partner with Hire & Sales Managers to create a highly engaged, happy workforce.
- Inspire a culture of satisfaction, optimism, and teamwork —your energy sets the tone!
- Identify and deliver process improvements, driving efficiency and growth.
- Structure and lead operational frameworks that make our business run smoothly.
- Share safety leadership and uphold compliance through proactive, positive influence.
- Support the scheduling of workflow for new sales, service and repairs, and asset management—keeping everything (and everyone) on track.
- Day-to-day staff management with a hands-on, engaging approach.
- Oversee facilities and workshop maintenance as a shared responsibility.
- Deliver unforgettable customer and supplier experiences—bring a service-minded attitude and build lasting relationships.

Skills & Experience
- Proven leadership in General Manager role - accountable for driving daily operations (essential). Preferably from equipment or similar businesses
- Must hold Australian citizenship or permanent residency.
- Diploma, degree, or trade qualification in a relevant field (preferred).
- 15+ years' experience in a similar leadership role.
- Demonstrated experience managing teams of 25-50 people in operations.
- Outstanding interpersonal, scheduling, and logistics skills.
- Confident with Microsoft Office and business software.
