The service works in close collaboration with general practitioners, education providers, mental health services, and paediatricians across all areas of the Hunter New England Local Health District (HNELHD).
We deliver in-person care at our Wallsend clinic and extend our reach through telehealth and outreach services to children and families living in outer regional and rural areas of the district.
What You'll Be Doing
The Clinical Psychologist within the HNEKids ADHD Service plays a key role in the multidisciplinary assessment and care of children with ADHD.
This includes active participation in assessment clinics alongside paediatricians and the Clinical Nurse Consultant, as well as contributing to case preparation prior to the child's initial appointment, whether in-person or via telehealth.
The role involves providing brief psychological interventions for children and their families, while also offering guidance, advocacy, and referral support to help families access suitable long-term therapy options.
The psychologist also liaises with education providers and mental health services across the Local Health District to ensure coordinated and holistic care.
An additional component of the role may include delivering group education sessions for parents and carers.
Formal psychological assessments (cognitive, adaptive, developmental) are not a core part of this role and are only conducted when essential to the diagnostic process.
