Are you a People & Culture Leader looking for a new challenge and experience within a multi-site tourism and nature-based environment? Join our Not-for-profit environmental organisation, committed to the conservation of wildlife habitats and special places.

Based at Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary (State headquarters), National Trust of Australia (Queensland), has 15 environmental, tourism and heritage sites from Currumbin to Cooktown. We are expanding rapidly with new business opportunities and a return of tourism to our properties. Join us as part of our continued growth journey.

Reporting directly to the CEO, for this role we are seeking an experienced and successful professional as Head of People and Culture who has extensive HR, team management, Employee Relations, or Employment Law experience.

**The role**:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced leader who is passionate about creating a framework for employee contributions to be maximised by high levels of engagement.
You will have a positive mindset and passion for working in a dynamic environment.
This is a full-time role with occasional travel State-wide (with notice).

Reporting into the CEO and working closely with the Leadership team, the General Manager of Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary and National Trust Head of Heritage and Environmental Services, this role will lead the following areas:

- Strategic and operational development, implementation, management and reporting of all Human Resource systems and functions to maximize engagement, productivity and brand in alignment with company values and strategic objectives.
- Management, coaching and support of the People and Culture team.
- Ensure effective design and delivery of all necessary IR, ER, WHS and Wellbeing functions across the business to ensure compliance and maximize engagement.
- Use innovation and best practice techniques to ensure continuous improvement and effective workforce planning across the business.

**Key success factors**:

- Partner with the leadership and management teams on key team performance priorities to maximise team potential
- Be a commercial advocate for development and self-improvement, overseeing mentoring and professional development planning with teams.
- Working with WHS Business Partner and WHS Advisor to promote a safety culture throughout our business
- Analyse and prepare reports as required by the CEO or the National Trust Board.
- Lead the performance management framework including investigations and performance improvement planning and ongoing training to improve behaviours and culture.
- Identify and action continuous improvement of People & Culture initiatives and processes that enhance the overall employee experience, improve employee retention and talent acquisition
- Lead the reward and recognition program with the Leadership team.
- Work with the CEO regarding department restructures and associated requirements to optimise business operations.
- Management of performance framework processes including KPO setting, continuous performance reviews, and associated training for employees and managers for clear alignment to strategic goals.
- Management and engagement of employee engagement surveys.
- Ensure all HR policies are current, relevant and communicated throughout the business.
- Redefine the employee experience by introducing a NTAQ EVP.
- Provide leadership to develop and implement programs to build the capability of NTAQ leaders with IR and ER knowledge.

**About you**:
We're looking for a proactive leader with the following experience:

- 5+ years' experience successfully developing, implementing, and maintaining People & Culture Programs and processes
- Relevant tertiary qualifications highly desirable.
- Comprehensive commercial experience and knowledge of industry practices across multi-use sites
- High degree of computer literacy and presentation skills
- A driven self-starter, with the ability to work independently
- An experience people manager that can oversee operational procedures, risk assessments
- Creative, proactive, collaborative, and pragmatic thinking
- Strong attention to detail and great organisational skills
- High levels of emotional intelligence with demonstrated effective delegation and strategic thinking.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to conduct training and presentations to all levels across the business
