About the role
The Head Theatre Technician is responsible for leading effective coordination and efficient management for the theatre technician team within the Perioperative Environment.
The Head Theatre technician is a valued and collaborative member of the multidisciplinary team and is accountable for coordinating and delivering safe and comprehensive patient centred care while working competently within their scope of practice and in alignment with policies and guidelines.
The Head Theatre Technician classification requires both Clinical and Management portfolios/duties. In collaboration with the Nurse Unit Manager these portfolios/duties include but are not limited to:
* Maintenance of Accreditation Standards within the Operations Unit
* Supervision and training to Theatre Technicians Grade 1 to 5
* Theatre Technician Recruitment and maintenance of Budgeted EFT. Inclusive of roster and leave management and Orientation to new staff
* Responsible for performance appraisals
* Escalation and reporting of issues through the appropriate management line
* Promotes and drives Theatre Efficiency and staff culture and morale
* Responsible for the availability of Equipment/Supplies that meet the needs of the department
* Develop and provide training to the team based on training needs analysis
* Ensures staff compliance with mandatory training requirements

About you
Essential criteria includes:
* Certificate IV in Health Service Assistance (Operating Theatre Technical Support)
* 3 Years experience post attainment of certificate IV
* Completed specialty training in areas such as cell saving, laser, stealth, organ retrieval or spinal care
* Able to work in all areas of the operating suite and have comprehensive knowledge and ability to work within each of the clinical specialties offered
* A high degree of autonomy and accountability.
* Exceptional communication and organisational skills
Desirable criteria
* Cert 4 training and assessment
* Previous experience as Grade 4 or above
