About the Role The Director of Nursing will provide senior clinical and operational leadership across emergency, subacute inpatient, and community‑based services within Hospitals North. The role works closely with the Assistant Director of Nursing – Primary Health North and other senior leaders to plan, coordinate, deliver and evaluate services, ensuring responsiveness to community needs and alignment with Department of Health objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Provide professional and clinical governance of nursing services, ensuring compliance with legislative, regulatory and accreditation standards.

Lead planning and evaluation of nursing services, promoting a culture of quality improvement, safety and accountability.

Manage and monitor human, financial and physical resources for effective and efficient use.

Lead multidisciplinary teams, strengthen partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, and support service planning, policy development and organisational improvement initiatives.

Promote workforce capability and sustainability through professional development, performance management and coordination of learning opportunities.

Represent the Department on committees and working groups, providing high‑level professional advice and contributing to broader clinical and service delivery priorities.

Appointment Details Permanent full‑time day worker position, working up to 76 hours per fortnight.

Salary: $142,632 per annum. 12% superannuation contribution on top.

Allowances may be available: Post‑graduate allowance up to 10% (based on qualification type); Rural Professional Development Allowance 4%.

Eligibility Applicants must be registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse. Desirable criteria include relevant post‑graduate qualifications and a current driver’s licence.

Organization & Location North Eastern Soldiers Memorial Hospital, Scottsdale, Northern Tasmania. Part of the Department of Health Tasmania, which oversees hospitals, health services and community health sites across the state.
