Job Title: Coroners Court of Queensland Services Officer
The Department of Justice and Attorney-General seeks a highly skilled and empathetic Coroners Court of Queensland (CCQ) Services Officer to join the Operations Team. This role provides administrative and case management support, working closely with the Coronial Support Officer and Coronial Investigations Officer within the CCQ.
This position involves delivering family-focused coronial services to the bereaved in a timely and accurate manner. The successful candidate will communicate effectively with coroners, families, witnesses, court users, and stakeholders in a dynamic and often sensitive operational environment.
Main Responsibilities
1. Policies and Processes: Maintain knowledge of the relevant policies and processes governed by the Coroners Act 2003.
2. Administrative Support: Provide administrative support in a busy registry setting, including:
1. Receiving reports of death and creating a case file.
2. Opening and recording incoming correspondence.
3. Preparing standard correspondence, court forms, and documents (including autopsy orders and coronial findings).
4. Preparing and maintaining files.
5. Maintaining office supplies and equipment.
3. Data Management: Organising appointments and meetings; data entry and the use of a case management database; and using a range of office equipment.
4. Training and Assistance: Ability to train and assist other team members.
5. Sensitive Communication: Communicate with sensitivity, tact, discretion, and confidentiality, including the ability to communicate about difficult and highly emotive issues.
6. Teamwork and Time Management: Build and maintain positive relationships with team members and contribute to the accomplishment of team goals, following instructions, managing own time, and meeting deadlines.
7. Technical Support: Provide keyboard support for drafting documents with technical and medical language, including coronial findings.
8. Additional Duties: Provide general assistance to the Coronial Support Coordinator and the Coroners, as required.
9. National Coronial Information System (NCIS): Ensure timely coding of information about Queensland coronial investigations into the NCIS and ensure that coding practices are accurate, efficient, and meet coding quotas and KPIs.
10. Organisational Governance: Actively contribute, as a member of the team, to the good governance of CCQ, supporting and contributing to a positive, supportive, inclusive, and trustful organisation.
