The Position
The Material Planner is responsible for the timely, accurate materials flow to support Production and Aftermarket parts requirements in line with departmental, financial and budgetary constraints.
Reporting to the Material Planning Manager as part of a multi-skilled team of six, the Material Planner has a key role in facilitating smooth material flow processes. This role oversees materials ordering and inventory levels and is responsible for generating accurate data to ensure timely and well-informed decisions are made around materials flow.
What you'll be doing
* Managing end-to-end procurement activities, including issuing and expediting purchase orders in line with demand plans
* Coordinating with suppliers and freight partners to ensure timely delivery and resolve supply bottlenecks
* Monitoring and mitigating risks relating to quality, cost, delivery and continuity of supply
* Maintaining strong relationships with suppliers, customers and internal stakeholders
* Overseeing inventory levels across the warehouse to support production and aftermarket requirements
* Identifying and managing slow-moving or excess stock to minimise obsolescence and optimise working capital
* Forecasting and scheduling inbound materials to prevent stockouts and production disruptions
* Driving supply chain optimisation initiatives, including cost reduction and continuous improvement strategies
* Providing regular reporting and insights to management on material availability, risks and performance against targets
Skills and Experience you'll need to succeed
* 3-5 years of experience in Material Planning or Supply Chain Analysis
* Tertiary qualification in Business, Engineering, Logistics or Supply Chain preferred
* ERP system experience and strong data driven decision-making capability
* Strong communication and collaboration skills
* Experience driving continuous system and process improvements
* Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office (particularly Excel) and Power BI
* Exposure to automotive and building materials industry highly desirable
* Experience identifying and eliminating slow-moving and obsolete stock highly desirable
