The Role

Coordinate and manage the day to day staffing and operations of the Junior Medical Officer Unit to facilitate delivery of quality, cost effective services and the achievement of business and service objectives.
In consultation with the POWH JMO Manager and POWH JMO unit, the JMO Co-ordinator will oversee all Junior Medical Staff rostering, payroll and recruitment requirements within the Sydney / Sydney Eye Hospital (SSEH) and is expected to travel between Prince of Wales Hospital JMO Unit and Sydney / Sydney Eye Hospital JMO Unit from time to time.
The position will be responsible for cost effective, fair and equitable rostering for all Medical Workforce and ensure best rostering practices are followed with regard to award requirements and safe hours.
The JMO Co-Ordinator will be responsible for local payroll processes and have knowledge of relevant industrial awards, legislative requirements, and policies and procedures at District and State level, providing timely and accurate advice to staff.
This position will be responsible for local JMO recruitment processes in conjunction with the POWH JMO unit, Heads of Department and the Director of Clinical Services, ensuring compliance with Ministry of Health and SESLHD Workforce Services policies and protocols on recruitment and selection of JMOs.
A major function of this role is to manage the annual JMO recruitment process of Junior Medical Officers within the Northern Network for SSEH and its business units and secondment sites.
The role requires effective collaboration with the Prince of Wales Hospital JMO Unit and other sites to maintain and improve JMO and medical workforce administration functions.

Where you'll be working
Sydney Hospital and Sydney Eye Hospital are historic institutions with a legacy of nursing and medical firsts.
They provide a blend of general and specialist medical services, including a 24-hour emergency service, general medicine, perioperative services, and specialist hand and eye surgery.
The Hospital is located in the heart of the Central Business District in Sydney.

Selection criteria
Relevant tertiary qualifications in Human Resources or relevant equivalent work experience, or a combination of study and work experience, preferably with experience working with Medical Officers.
Demonstrated experience in rostering and administration management practices, preferably in a health-related and/or JMO field.
Knowledge and understanding of employment conditions; ability to apply these to rostering and remuneration processes, preferably in a health-related field.
Knowledge and understanding of recruitment and human resource management with ability to interpret awards, policies, agreements and employment legislation.
Proven ability to work independently in a high-volume environment with competing priorities, requiring high-level analytical skills and attention to detail.
Demonstrated communication, conflict resolution, negotiation and problem-solving skills with ability to establish sound working relationships with senior staff and to escalate significant issues as they arise.
Advanced experience with software packages (Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, HealthRoster, Stafflink and other MOH applications preferable).
