Lockheed Martin Australia is seeking an
Assistant General Counsel.
In this pivotal role, you will support some of the nation’s most complex defence and advanced technology programs. Your ability to provide clear, commercially focused legal advice will help drive informed decisions, strengthen compliance, and enable successful program delivery.
Your responsibilities
Provide timely, accurate legal advice on commercial, corporate, contractual, employment, regulatory, procurement and defence-related matters.
Draft, review, and negotiate a range of commercial, corporate, government and subcontract agreements.
Communicate complex legal issues with clarity and influence across all levels of the organisation.
Support risk management, compliance and corporate governance frameworks.
Collaborate with program, commercial, supply chain and corporate teams to enable positive business outcomes.
Contribute to policy development and continuous improvement across the Legal function.
Work closely with the Australian General Counsel and global legal teams on high-visibility matters and strategic initiatives.
Operate effectively across international time zones, engaging with global stakeholders where required.
Undertake occasional domestic or international travel in support of program and business needs.
What you’ll bring
A law degree and current Australian practising certificate.
4–7 years’ post-qualification experience, with strong commercial or corporate law experience gained from an in‑house environment or reputable law firm.
Experience working with commercial contracts, corporate governance, procurement, major projects and/or technology-related matters is highly regarded.
Strong organisational savvy — able to navigate a large, matrixed organisation and manage corporate dynamics with confidence.
Ability to communicate with influence, demonstrating executive presence and gravitas when engaging senior stakeholders.
A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with the ability to anticipate needs, identify risks early, and offer practical guidance.
Excellent drafting, negotiation, and stakeholder engagement skills.
A team-oriented, relationship-driven approach with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams and global environments.
