This is a unique opportunity to take on a pivotal national leadership role with one of Australia's leading healthcare providers. You will shape the future of our courier network across Australia, ensuring specimens and essential goods move safely, reliably, and efficiently every day.
With a mandate to modernise operations through data, automation, AI and intelligent route design, you will lead large, dispersed teams and uplift the capability, consistency and resilience of our national courier network. Your leadership will directly drive improvements in patient experience, operational efficiency and national service performance.

About Us

Healius has an expansive network of approximately 80 medical laboratories and 2000 patient collection centres operating across metropolitan, regional and remote Australia. We provide 1 in every 3 pathology services in Australia, extending from exclusively servicing some of Australia's largest and most complex private and public hospitals, to small Indigenous Australian communities. This means that you will be working in a business large enough to offer you job stability & security, interstate mobility and the opportunity to fulfil your career ambitions.
What You Will Be Doing
As National Courier Manager, you will oversee the end‑to‑end performance and optimisation of our national courier network. This is a strategic and operational leadership role responsible for service quality, safety, route design, technology uplift, workforce capability, and cost efficiency across a large, complex organisation.
Key responsibilities include:
Deliver a clear and effective national courier strategy and policy framework.
Lead and develop a large, geographically dispersed courier workforce, ensuring high engagement and capability.
Oversee national courier operations to deliver reliable, consistent, and resilient services for patient specimens and goods.
Drive effective adoption of route optimisation, automation, and AI‑enabled logistics technologies.
Use data to improve efficiency, workforce planning, productivity, and service quality.
Manage operational planning, resourcing, scheduling, and productivity frameworks.
Ensure compliance with quality, safety, regulatory and organisational standards, including governance and risk oversight.
Lead continuous improvement to enhance operational resilience, customer experience, and cost effectiveness.
What Type of Person Will Be Successful
To be successful, you will be a strategic and operational leader with deep experience in complex logistics operations. You bring strong people leadership capability and the ability to improve national performance through data‑driven decision‑making and technology‑enabled processes.
Key attributes include:
Proven experience managing large, geographically dispersed frontline teams.
Experience implementing and operating route optimisation, scheduling or logistics technology.
Strong data literacy, with the ability to translate insights into practical operational actions.
Experience in logistics, courier, transport, supply chain or time‑critical operational environments.
A strong focus on safety, service, performance and compliance across complex operations.
Collaborative leadership with the ability to build credible relationships across internal and external stakeholders.
A resilient, solutions‑oriented approach suited to dynamic operational environments.
We believe everyone leads, no matter what role they are in. Our ways of leading are the behaviours that we expect our people to embody and are: Customer Focused, Accountable, Collaborative, Credible & Resourceful.
