Offer description

Your New Firm

Be part of an influential national organisation that plays a trusted role in supporting the medical profession. With offices in Melbourne, Sydney, and Brisbane, the organisation delivers expert medico-legal advisory services that make a real difference to doctors, surgeons and specialists across Australia. You'll be joining a respected voice in the sector, with the opportunity to contribute to shaping how medical professionals are supported and protected.

Your New Role

As Lead Medico Legal Advisor, you will oversee a national team of Medico-Legal Advisors who are the first point of contact for members seeking advice on medico-legal risk, regulatory obligations, and employment matters. This is not a practising legal role but one that will see you apply your legal and medical knowledge in new and rewarding ways.

In addition to providing guidance on complex issues, you will be responsible for managing resourcing and workflow, ensuring consistency of advice, and supporting the client experience across all three offices. With a strong team leadership focus, this role offers a unique opportunity to step away from day-to-day practice while still leveraging your expertise to influence outcomes and improve services for the medical community.

This is an ideal role for a senior lawyer with a background in the medical field who is seeking an alternative career pathway, one where you can continue to make a meaningful impact without the demands of traditional practice.

Culture & Benefits

You'll be joining an organisation of over 100 staff nationally that places members at the centre of everything they do. Expect a professional yet supportive culture where collaboration, knowledge-sharing, and process improvement are highly valued. The role offers the chance to shape the direction of advisory services on a national scale.

Your Skills Profile

- At least 5 years' experience in a leadership role, ideally across multiple locations;
- Legal experience in medical negligence, allied health, or related medical fields or direct experience in the medical profession prior to becoming a lawyer;
- Strong leadership and people management skills, with a track record of developing high-performing teams;
- Ability to identify risk, manage claims or advisory matters, and escalate appropriately;
- Background in process improvement, transformation, or knowledge management;
- Excellent stakeholder engagement skills with a member-first mindset; and
- Capacity to balance operational oversight with strategic enhancement of services.
